Hello! Susan launched The ESL Nexus to provide resources to educators who work with Multilingual Learners of English (aka English Language Learners). After working as a teacher and teacher trainer at universities in Asia and private language programs in the US, she taught MLEs in Grades K-8 at a public school in Massachusetts for 16 years. Besides teaching Content-Based ESL Social Studies and English Language Development classes, she co-taught in regular ed math, science, and ELA classes.
In addition, Susan was a teacher trainer for her school district and designed and implemented courses on various aspects of teaching students learning English as an additional language for teachers and administrators. She has presented at conferences in China, Canada, and the US and has published over 25 articles in professional education journals and books.
In 2007, Susan received a Fulbright-Hays award to India and in 2010, she received an ING Unsung Hero Award for a technology project she implemented with her middle school students.
