The MTSS Hub was created after a thorough analysis of how we were supporting students through our MTSS interventions.  After realizing that students were receiving “umbrella” interventions, we knew something needed to change.  Just because a student is struggling in reading does not mean they are struggling with the same component of reading as the student sitting next to them.  In order to make sure we are providing the interventions that students actually need, we first had to figure out how to identify the specific area of struggle (screeners).  Then, once we knew where to start, we could use an intervention that would directly impact the weakness area.  Finally, to make sure we were monitoring the original weakness, we had to align an appropriate progress monitoring tool.  Large assessments did not always give us the specific information and data pieces that we needed to determine if the intervention was working or not.  Instead, we needed narrowed down probes that aligned with the original struggle.  

While our team could agree that this was the way to go, we had to jump in and now make the alignment idea actually work for the students.  In other words, we needed to break down the focus skills and identify interventions that would address student’s needs.  ENTER THE MTSS HUB!  The MTSS Hub takes the need for alignment to the next level and allows MTSS teams to put their ideals into practice!
