Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder

Description

Working with students who have Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder (CD) in a school setting can be a very rewarding experience. With the right strategies and resources, participants can gain invaluable insight into the best ways to help these students reach their full potential. During this session, participants will learn about various behavior change concepts that can help foster intrinsic motivation and be better equipped to support students in the classroom and beyond.

Through interactive activities, participants will have the opportunity to explore and discuss different approaches for dealing with situations such as power struggles, goal setting, and self-regulation. By the end of the session, participants will gain a better understanding of the unique needs of students with ODD and CD, and be better prepared to help these students achieve their potential.

Elizabeth Avery has a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. Elizabeth is passionate about utilizing a strengths-based approach through a trauma-informed lens when working therapeutically with youth. Over the years, she has worked with the children and adolescents with a wide variety of mental health diagnoses in traditional therapeutic settings, schools, and within the juvenile justice system. Currently, Elizabeth is devoted to developing mental health programs within school systems in order to increase access to care and decrease stigma.
