Our TechEd Maven Consulting Adaptive Living Lesson Plan Template, Rubric and Feedback Protocol is a comprehensive solution for Middle and High School educators dedicated to responsive and data-driven instruction. This template transcends traditional planning methods by including a ‘living’ component that evolves with the daily educational needs, allowing for the seamless integration of student assessments into actionable teacher planning strategies.

Key components of the template include:

Cooperative Learning Structures: Space to articulate the collaborative activities and group dynamics that will be implemented, fostering a supportive and interactive classroom environment.
Accommodations, Modifications, and Differentiation: Details on tailored instruction techniques to support all learners, ensuring equity and accessibility in your teaching practice.
Intervention & Enrichment Skills: Sections to pinpoint skills for focused teaching, informed by data from continuous assessment, to elevate student learning.
“Living” Portion of Lesson Plan: A dynamic space for day-to-day adaptation, where educators can allocate small group interventions, individual enrichment, or pull-out instruction based on real-time student performance and needs.
Reflection: An area for post-lesson analysis, enabling educators to assess the effectiveness of their strategies and make informed decisions for future instruction.

Accompanying this template is a detailed Rubric and Feedback Protocol, which outlines:

Standards, Skills, and Objectives Alignment: Ensuring that lesson objectives are not only aligned with educational standards but are also clear, measurable, and sequentially integrated within the curriculum.
Formative “Exit Tickets” & Daily Learning Assessments: Mechanisms for evaluating student understanding daily, which directly feed into the adaptive planning process.
Student Engagement Metrics: Criteria for measuring the level of student interaction and engagement with the learning materials and activities.
Data-Driven Interventions & Enrichment: Guidance for utilizing student performance data to tailor interventions and enrichment activities, promoting individual growth and learning.

This living document is designed to be fluid and customizable, offering flexibility to adapt to various class schedules with drop-downs for periods 1-8 and a structure that supports both pre-planned and spontaneous educational adjustments.

“The key to assessing formatively is not the assessment itself but what is done with the information once it is gathered.” (Ferlazzo, 2021). By integrating this living lesson plan into your teaching approach, you ensure that your pedagogy is proactive, differentiated, and consistently aligned with each student’s journey. It’s more than a template; it’s a commitment to educational excellence and a testament to the dynamic nature of teaching.
