Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a project that combines research, culture, and creativity!

The Hispanic Heritage Month Flags & Facts Project invites students to explore a Hispanic country or territory while creating a colorful, display-worthy representation of its flag. Students research key information about their selected country, including geography, population, religion, national symbols, culture, history, government, currency, GDP, and major industries and exports.

Rather than completing a traditional country report, students turn their research into a creative visual display. Flags may be drawn, colored, painted, or constructed with materials such as paper, fabric, yarn, ribbon, beads, pom-poms, or other creative materials. The result is an engaging academic project that can also become a colorful Hispanic Heritage Month classroom, hallway, or schoolwide display.

This resource includes:

Hispanic Heritage Month project flyer with customizable due-date space
Detailed, student-friendly project instructions
20 Hispanic country and territory choices
11 required research topics
Ideas for creative flag construction and project presentation
Student “Before You Submit” checklist
20-point, four-level assessment rubric
Criteria for research, accuracy, organization, presentation, creativity, and effort

The open-ended format allows students to make their projects as simple or creative as desired while maintaining meaningful academic expectations. It works well as an individual research project, take-home assignment, Hispanic Heritage Month activity, social studies extension, Spanish class project, or schoolwide academic challenge.

Research. Create. Celebrate. Students learn about the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions represented during Hispanic Heritage Month while creating something they’ll be proud to share.
