Research shows that attendance can have a direct impact on a student’s overall success in school. Regular school attendance is critical to a student’s success. When a child is in school every day, they keep up with daily lessons and assignments, perform better on tests, and gain a stronger understanding of the material. Missing school means missing out on important instruction time, leading to gaps in their knowledge. Being at school also impacts each student’s social and emotional growth, helping them to build friendships and learn essential social skills like cooperation, communication, and conflict resolution.

While all of this information makes sense to us as educators, many parents do not realize the impact school attendance can have on a child’s overall development.
