Protect your instructional leadership time while ensuring families receive clear, timely, and supportive communication.

Protecting the Work: Parent Communication & Administrative Escalation Toolkit is a practical school leadership resource designed to help principals and leadership teams create clear systems for responding to parent calls, concerns, and requests without making every situation a principal problem.

The goal is not to make school leaders less accessible. It is to help families reach the right person, clarify staff responsibilities, create consistent communication practices, build leadership capacity, and protect the time principals need to remain connected to teaching and learning.

This toolkit was developed from systems and lessons I have learned through seven years in the principalship. It is designed to be practical enough to review with your front office team, teachers, counselors, assistant principals, instructional staff, or leadership team and begin implementing on your campus.

A NOTE ABOUT IMPLEMENTATION

Every school is different. Staffing structures, district policies, emergency procedures, grievance processes, confidentiality requirements, and communication expectations vary. This toolkit is intended to provide a framework that school leaders can adapt to their own campus and district expectations.

This resource is provided as a ready-to-use PDF. It is not an editable resource.

The idea behind Protecting the Work is simple:

Right information.

Right people.

Right support.

Stronger schools.

Protecting instructional leadership time does not mean becoming unavailable. It means building systems and developing people so the work of teaching and learning remains at the center of school leadership.

The Wildflower Within 🖤

Keep Becoming.
